Um adäquat auf die Veränderungen und die vielfältigen Versorgungsprobleme zu reagieren, bieten sich die Konzepte Case Management und Primary Nursing als mögliche Lösungsansätze in besonderer Weise an, gewinnen zunehmend an Bedeutung und bieten viel versprechende Perspektiven. Die Entwicklung im Krankenhauswesen wird geprägt durch die Einführung der G-DRG (German Diagnosis Related Groups) zur Finanzierung von Krankenhausleistungen. Hierdurch haben sich die Schwerpunkte innerhalb der Krankenhäuser verändert. Kürzere Verweildauern, höhere Fallzahlen, sowie die Ausweisung von Art und Anzahl der Leistung erfordern eine komplette Neuorientierung in der Planung, der Gestaltung und der Steuerung von Krankenhausleistungen bzw. in der Patientenversorgung. Hervorgerufen durch den erwähnten Innovations- und Handlungsdruck wurden bei der Einführung der Konzepte die Reflexion der konzeptionellen Grundlagen vernachlässigt, es fehlten notwendige Transfer- bzw. Implementationsvoraussetzungen und das mit den Konzepten verbundene Für und Wider wurde nicht gegeneinander abgewogen. Entsprechend werden die Begriffe Case Management und Primary Nursing oftmals verwendet, ohne dass grundsätzlich klar ist, was sich dahinter verbirgt. Demzufolge werden die Konzepte nicht selten missverstanden oder fehl interpretiert, einzelne Bausteine aus ihrem Kontext herausgelöst oder die Begriffe Case Management und Primary Nursing synonym verwendet. Ausgehend von den skizzierten gesundheitspolitischen Herausforderungen und der bestehenden Problematik verfolgt diese Arbeit das Ziel, die Auseinandersetzung mit den Konzepten Case Management und Primary Nursing voranzutreiben. Drei zentrale Fragestellungen sollen dabei im Mittelpunkt stehen. - Welchen Ursprung, welche Zielsetzung und welche Elemente lassen sich anhand der Literaturanalyse für die Konzepte Case Management und Primary Nursing identifizieren? - Wie sind unter Berücksichtigung der Zielsetzung und Elemente die Konzepte Case Management und Primary Nursing ins Krankenhaussystem einzubinden? - Wo liegen die Unterschiede und die Gemeinsamkeiten der Konzepte Case Management und Primary Nursing und welche Schlüsse lassen sich daraus ableiten?
